Preston Sprinkle's latest book, From Genesis to Junia: An Honest Search for What the Bible Really Says About Women in Leadership, documents his exegetical journey through Scripture and his change of mind from a default complementarian position to the belief that women can lead and teach in the church without restriction.
The book opened up a bigger conversation. Beth Allison Barr, historian and author of The Making of Biblical Womanhood, engaged with it publicly on her Substack, raising questions about neutrality, privilege, embodied theology, and whose voices the conversation includes. We brought both of them onto TheoDisc to continue that conversation together.
What follows is a scholarly exchange that goes beyond the book, into the questions it surfaces about women, leadership, and what the church does next.
Chapters:
00:26 Introduction
02:47 Motivation
