Your Bible might say Phoebe was a "helper" of Paul.
That's a WEAK translation.
And Dr. Lynn Cohick breaks down what was actually going on.
Phoebe wasn't fetching water and making sandwiches. She was Paul's financial backer. His protector. His connector. She was a recognized deacon of the church at Cenchreae. And she's the one who appears to have physically carried the letter to the Romans all the way to Rome.
Dr. Cohick is a Distinguished Professor of New Testament, taught at Wheaton College for 18 years, helped translate the NLT Bible, and has published over 50 scholarly works. When she says "that's a really weak translation," she means it.
This is just ONE moment from our full conversation. Wait until you hear what she says about Mary Magdalene and the female apostle whose name got changed by a monk in the 1200s.
