What about the Apostolic Fathers? Which ones hold the greatest promise?

Clement of Rome & Polycarp: These are "possible pluses." While I don't rate them as high as Paul, they might offer us something.

Ignatius: We don't actually have reports connecting him directly to the Apostles.

Gnostic & Non-Canonical Literature: You might find something in the Gospel of Thomas, but likely not in the other material.

Non-Christian Sources: When looking at Tacitus or Josephus, we get details on the death—perhaps a bit more with Josephus, but it's a "maybe."

Ultimately, it’s about identifying and going through the best sources we have.
