The key to pursuing wisdom begins with trusting in God completely and not relying on our own understanding. This means putting our full confidence in Him and allowing our faith in Christ to grow, because true wisdom flows from our relationship with Him. As Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths."

The first step is trusting in Christ, listening to His Word, leaning into Him, and receiving His guidance. Faith involves more than just believing—it is an active leaning, a receiving, and an embracing of Christ as our Savior, Prophet, Priest, and King.

Next, we are warned not to build our lives on our own wisdom or strengths—whether that be book smarts, people smarts, street smarts, or stubbornness. Relying on our own skills and understanding without seeking God’s guidance will ultimately lead to failure. True wisdom comes only through humble reliance on God, acknowledging our own limitations and depending on His infinite wisdom.

To grow in wisdom, we must actively cultivate our faith in Christ, build our lives on His teachings, and seek His guidance in everything we do. Wisdom is not something we create for ourselves, but something we receive and grow in as we deepen our relationship with Jesus, who is our true source of wisdom and understanding.
