What part does religion play in promoting equality and justice in society, and what are the challenges that arise? This talk will explore questions arising from Dr Williams' experience in advocating for a fairer, more equal society. Dr Rowan Williams Dr Williams is currently Master of Magdalene College. From 2002 to 2012 he served as the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury. During his time as a Fellow at Clare he was arrested and fined for singing psalms as part of the CND protest at Lakenheath airbase. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and of the Learned Society of Wales. He became Lord Williams of Oystermouth in 2013. Amongst his writings on a wide range of theological, historical and political themes Dr Williams is a noted poet and translator of poetry, and, apart from Welsh, speaks or reads nine other languages.
