A Homily for the Third Sunday of Easter by the Rev'd Dr. Ann Jervis

Today is the Third Sunday of Easter in the liturgical year.
Ann Jervis opens by admitting she can't fully explain the resurrection — and isn't embarrassed by that. Her question is sharper: not what happened, but what kind of triumph it is. Drawing on the Emmaus story, Peter's transformation, Baby Suggs's freed hands in Beloved, and Handel's soprano aria, she argues that Christ's victory over death is peculiar — not a seizure of political power, but a liberation of hearts, minds, and hands freed for holiness and love.
