Rowan Williams, 104th Archbishop of Canterbury (2002-12), Archbishop of Wales (2000-02), and the first Archbishop of Canterbury in modern times chosen from outside the Church of England. Dr Williams is renowned internationally as an exceptional theologian scholar, teacher and writer of a broad range of work encompassing philosophy, theology, spirituality and religious aesthetics. Throughout his career he has written on moral, ethical and social topics, and widely on contemporary cultural and interfaith issues since becoming archbishop. In this short dialogue, Bishop Williams gives us a marvelous glimpse about Etty Hillesum's spiritual life. Etty was a young Jewish woman whose letters and diaries, kept between 1941 and 1943, describe her life in Amsterdam during the German occupation.
