“I am leaving the world and πορεύομαι back to the Father” (John 16:28).
Verb: πορεύομαι, (pisteuō) GK G4513 (S G4198), 153x. πορεύομαι is a common term in the NT to refer to physical motion from one place to another (e.g., Lk. 2:3, “And everyone went to his own town to register,” cf. 7:8, 11, 50; 17:19; Jn. 4:50). In Jn. 8:11 Jesus tells the woman caught in adultery, “Go now and leave your life of sin.” The hope of all believers is that Jesus will “go and prepare a place for you” (14:3; cf. Acts 1:10, 11).
