The Rev. Dr. Gabrielle Thomas is Assistant Professor in Early Christianity and Anglican Studies at Candler School of Theology - Emory University, and Theologian in Community at St. Luke's Episcopal Church - Atlanta, GA. Prior to that, she completed post-doctoral work at Yale University (US) and Durham University (UK). She was ordained in 2015 and served as an Assistant Curate in London Diocese and as a Minor Canon in Durham Cathedral.
Thomas is a member of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Theological Reflection Group and was the first woman to be appointed to the Anglican – Oriental Orthodox International Commission. In addition to authoring a significant number of journal articles, book chapters, and reviews for academic and ecclesial readers, she has published three books: The Image of God in the Theology of Gregory Nazianzus (Cambridge, 2019), Women and Ordination in the Orthodox Church: Explorations in Theology and Practice (co-edited, Cascade, 2020), and For the Good of the Church: Unity, Theology and Women (SCM Press, 2021).
