In this video, renowned political scientist David Koyzis and I talk about socialism in general and Marxism in particular. Koyzis argues, and I agree, that all modern political ideologies are idolatrous. In other words, all ideologies ascribe ultimacy to something other than God. They elevate some earthly concept to the level of a deity and then shape their beliefs and values around this earthly concept. Koyzis argues that Marxists deify material equality. With material equality as the functional "god," Marxists historically have done some very bad things to people in order to achieve their goal of material equality. Sadly, instead of liberating society and achieving material prosperity, Marxism has suppressed society and induced poverty. It was a very good interview. Check it out.
