R.R. Reno spoke on "Moral Inequality in America" at Christian Union's 2017 Nexus conference for professionals. Lots of attention is being given to income inequality. But our society also suffers from a growing gap in moral and social capital. Marriage, religious attendance, and civic involvement characterize the well-to-do and well-educated, but not working-class Americans. This talk discusses the ways in which moral relativism and non-judgmentalism have dismantled shared social norms, leaving ordinary people without the guard rails they need to help them live honorable, decent, and fulfilling lives--and what we, as Christians, should do about it. R. R. Reno has served as the editor of First Things, America's most influential journal of religion in public life, since 2011. he received his Phd in Theology from Yale University, and taught theology and ethics at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for twenty years. He has published in many academic journals, and his opinion essays have appeared in Commentary, National Review, the Washington Post, the New York Times and other popular outlets. His most recent books include Resurrecting the Idea of a Christian Society, Fighting the Noonday Devil, Sanctified Vision, and a commentary on the Book of Genesis. Follow him on Twitter at @rr_reno.
