Palaver Lead: Prof. Emmanuel Katongole
Respondents: Fr. Emmanuel Ojeifo & Fr. William Orbih
This palaver engages the theological vision of Emmanuel Katongole to reflect on African theology as deeply contextual, communal, and publicly engaged. At the heart of the conversation is reconciliation, not as a technical tool for conflict management, but as God’s ongoing work of new creation that reshapes social, political, economic, and ecclesial life. Drawing from The Sacrifice of Africa and The Gospel as Politics in Africa, the session examines how the Gospel, political yet not partisan, challenges narratives that normalize violence, exclusion, and African suffering, while calling the Church to a nonviolent and prophetic public witness.
