In this clip from his course, "The Resurrection of the Son of God," Prof. N.T. Wright explores the Old Testament’s complex and often misunderstood vision of death. Poetic and prophetic texts speak of the dead being cut off, unable to enjoy the land, the harvest, or the beauty of life. Yet woven through Israel’s story is a deeper conviction: the Creator God does not abandon his creation. Prof. Wright traces how the promises to Abraham, the echoes of Eden, and the prayers of the Psalms hint at something more than decay and finality, a hope that later Jewish and Christian belief would recognize as the seedbed of resurrection and New Creation.
