Was Jesus Concerned about "Works Righteousness?"

One way of telling the story of Christianity's relationship with Judaism is that, in the Old Testament, people were trying to earn their salvation through "works righteousness" and that Jesus then came to tell people that following the law was impossible and instead they should just have faith.

He is the author of Jesus and the Law of Moses: The Gospels and the Restoration of Israel within First-Century Judaism.
